The Saint Patrick's Battalion was a unit of several hundred Irish, Germans, Swiss, Scots and other Roman Catholics of European descent, who deserted the U.S. Army and fought as part of the Mexican Army against the United States in the Mexican-American War of 1846 to 1848

  • Bloody USA hasn't stop since

  • IRELAND AND MEXICO. BROTHERS FOREVER

  • Then I would ask who in the world trashed Mexico because of their so beloved freedom to get high on drugs? Who hates Catholicism to the point tha they would let Obama win so that he can change the laws about marriage and support abortion is that all America cares about contradicting the Catholic to the point that they will kill their inocent?

  • What would the so-called Irish Brigade think of how the Republic [?] of Mexico would turn out 150 years later? A brutal junta steeped in corruption, oppression, poverty, hopelessness, drug cartels, gangs and death. Besides, treason is treason. My wife's family are descendents of Irish who settled this country. Many fought in Mexico, and fought again in the Civil War 13 years later. It is one thing for an immigrant to land on the shores of Mexico -- quite another to desert the U.S. Army.

  • These heroes are in heaven

  • @Primordialfan1 cool

  • @death9719

Lots of expat irish in south america as well as the religious connection. South America is mainly Catholic. So you had that connection too.

  • what is with the Irish with defending countries that speak Spanish from fascists, from the second socialist republic and the Lincoln battalion to the republic of mexico and these guys.

  • @TheRileybrook False. Mexico only revolted because Napoleon was in power of Spain. After the Napoleonic Wars ended, Spain didn't give even a thank you for causing trouble for the French Controlled Spanish Government, so they revolted against the Spanish, which triggered revolution from Mexico all they way to Chile.

  • i am mexican american, but i have always wondered why i get along with irish people so much. tonight i found out, thanks to the video our cultures go way back, XD plus we both like to get drunk, god bless ireland and mexico.
