It's the ultimate failed state - a land of war, banditry and piracy. And after Bin Laden's death, its civil war with Islamist extremists has gained even greater importance to the West. But what is it like to live in the anarchy of Somalia?
Reporter Peter Greste goes where no western journalist has been to witness a crisis that threatens millions of lives. He ventures through the streets of Mogadishu, dubbed the most dangerous city in the world, to meet those who attempt to live amid a deadly civil war.
Greste visits refugee camps - among them the world's largest - as well as hospitals and markets along the frontline to witness the fighting at first hand.

1.I never blamed Islam for what happened in Somalia, I blame the uncapability of a nation to form working institutions and have more respect of the basic human values. I am Orthodox Christian but I live among muslims and I have deep respect to them.
2. US follows it's interrest only (here I agree with you). In the 80's they supported Al-Qaeda and now they fight them which is a fact.
However now US is not involved in Somalia in any way, so no need to blame them

@Vraca
first of all,please do not blame islam for this.
second,somali people may have some of the blame in this,but so (and mostly) does the US. after all,al-shebab is a branch of al-qaida,and US made and funded al-qaida.
and im not somali nor african (im a kurd),and im not anti-western people (in fact,i love many western countries,like bulgaria,greece,sweden etc). i am just telling the truth.US government (american people are innocent) is waging a unseen war killing milions of people.

@Sateeya1 I don't want to argue anymore....It's part of the human nature to blame the others for own mistakes and this is one of the cases. At the end I can only thank God that I was born in Europe and not in such cruel and savage place like Somalia....

@Vraca - The problem is, you do not know anything about what went on in Somalia. Read on the subject or keep your mouth shut. You can find all you need to know about the US war on Somalia by proxy on the net. The US is terrorizing the world. You might not know this but facts is facts

@Sateeya1 In our schools we don't learn about failed states in the world. What I do see very often however are news about radical islam militia's, poverty that is more tipical for a mid-centuries than 2012, kidnapped ships and total disrespect of all basic human values. And stop blaming colonialism or the world conspiracy. My country was 500 years under foreign occupation (like many others) and yet people live more or less normal, there are laws and working institutions.

@Vraca - It is very clear to me that you do not know what have been going on in Somalia. Go back to school.

@Sateeya1 Why the US should be responsible for the uncapability of a group of people to establish a normal state? This population brings only and only problems- no economy, no agriculture, no will to take care of it's own destiny......If a Somali's don't respect human life, fight each other, kidnap ships and have no respect to others, than I don't think that anyone should respect them as well....
