Here is a video of me riding the Moki Dugway in Utah. I don't like to ride gravel roads on my bike, but this is one road that is well worth it! I would do it again any day and I would recommend it to anyone. It is absolutely breath taking. And as usual, the video don't even come close to doing it justice. The Moki Dugway is located on Utah Route 261 just north of Mexican Hat, UT. It was constructed in 1958 by Texas Zinc, a mining company, to transport uranium ore from the "Happy Jack" mine in Fry Canyon, UT. to the processing mill in Mexican Hat. The three miles of unpaved, but well graded, switchbacks descend 1100 feet from the top of Cedar Mesa (on which you are now standing). The State of Utah recommends that only vehicles less than 28 feet in length and 10,000 pounds in weight attempt to negotiate this steep (10% grade), narrow and winding road.

  • I like your choice of music. Nice video.

  • I drove the Moki Dugway from top to bottom in my car in July of 1995. What an awesome route!! Likewise, I don't like taking my car on unpaved roads, but this is a route I would do again. LOVED it! People who stick to the main roads sure miss a lot. A friend who had previously worked at Bullfrog was with me, and if I recall we went on down to Page, AZ, that night.

  • By the way, I went through the Moki Dugway and Monument Valley on Tuesday, July 13, 2009. When did you rumble through?

  • Excellent video! I loved riding the Moki Dugway also!
