Here's one of my favorite grilling recipes. This is a great marinade and a very flavorful cut of meat. If you can't get a flank steak, try it with some top sirloin. If you make it, take a pic and send it in.

  • You just lost ALL credibility when you cut into the steak right on the grill to test for done-ness - there goes all the juice.

  • I made this today, I used honey instead of molasses and olive oil instead of canola oil,

    I love flank steak

    I marinate overnight

    makes it so tender

  • @searcherboy Thank you for the information.

  • @9aspengold5 Splenda? Not a good choice for grilled meats. Splenda does not caramelize or brown. It breaks down chemically at temperatures over 450 degrees, which is lower than the typical temperature for broiling and grilling. Splenda can be used for baking, but not grilling. Stick with molasses or honey.

  • I've been grilling flank steak for years. My 2 cents:

    - omit the oil or add no more than 2 tbsp. It adds no flavor to the meat.

    - score the meat with a knife before marinating. This will help get the flavour into the meat.

    - why add sugar on top of molasses? Not necessary.

    - add something acidic to balance the sweet - lime juice or vinegar.

    - use less garlic, real ginger and add some rosemary or thyme

    - use low-sodium soy sauce. Mix with Worcestershire, fish sauce (nam pla), or what-have-you.

  • are you growing weed in that room with the windows covered up?

  • thats a small plate for a man. the juice ran out of your meat because you cut it on the grill.

  • @frontlogic what a stupid statement...u wanna drink ur steak or what?

  • @gorgeouss79 It can be done but it will be a little sweeter. I'd add a little less. Molasses keeps in the cupboard for a long time, and trust me you will make this again. It's worth picking up a bottle just for it.

  • can i use maple syrup instead of molases??

  • it's amazing how a half a cup or soy sauce....looks like...a half a cup of soy sauce

  • @tashomoho gracias, I think
