You actually want to start with a small amount of plain sugar in the beginning. Melt that down a little, add a slight bit more. You repeat until it bubbles, and then get a little heavier on the sugar. It should take about a minute and a half. Once the glaze is covering your entire ham and melting over you sprinkle some brown sugar on it and then quickly flame the ham with the blue flame. By melting it over the sides you don't need to worry about covering the whole thing in sugar. Good video.

Cheaper to buy the honey baked ham than to buy the torch. Lol

You have the right idea. But, to copy the original your steps and method to apply the sugar and spices are out of order. And your torch head is way too small. Great video.
Is it possible to broil the ham rather than using the blow torch?

@73niki73 I don't think it will help the whole ham get crusty this way, you could give it a try though.

The torch was 10 dollars. It was cheaper to buy the torch than the ham ;)

I found that if I use a larger blow torch, I burn my sugar into a mess.
