Video taken on April 17th, 2009 on a Monterey Bay Whale Watching boat (gowhales.com) We spotted several Orcas about 45 minutes into the boat trip, heading north from Monterey Bay towards the Deep Sea crevasse that extends towards Moss Beach. We had no idea this mother and calf were about to lead us to what turned out to be about 25 orcas!!

  • I was in Monterey in late June for a sailing camp. There was word that orcas were inside the harbor just a few days before I had arrived. It wasn't the best news to here before heading out two miles into the bay on a 14 foot sailboat...

  • What is up with all the orca sightings in Monterey now? They used to be a rare to see in the bay. Somethings changed - like a reduction in their food supply.

  • monterey is by far my favorite place on the planet! i go with my family all the time and we usually go whale watching! i've never seen orcas but i've seen blue whale, humpback, grey. some even breach! i've even seen a little pink jelly fish! all around great time!!!!!
