Bring back Backwards Compatibility for the PS3 Sony!

My beloved (lol) 60GB PS3 died on Monday, and I was forced to purchase a 160GB PS3 for the sum of £280 (near enough). Although I was incredibly grateful to get it, I can't help feeling Sony haven't given their customers a great deal when it comes to an "improved" model.

The actual cause of the problem, the Emotion Emulator chipset, was removed from all current generation PlayStation 3's due to the fact it was expensive to produce. Doing some internet research I discovered the chip costs around $27 (USD) to produce. This costs less than the actual casing which is again, downgraded from the sleek chrome finish the earlier model had.

I take a look at some past successful PS2 games, and offer some alternatives to what Sony and Game manufacturers should be doing.

Please note, I am not a Sony or Microsoft fanboy, I could care less about either company, but I do love my actual games. Some deserve to be bought back!

I agree. That's a great idea for the chip. I would buy it. If Sony comes out with another console, I'm not buying it if it's not BC. What is it worth to buy another console if they won't give their consumers the option at least to buy a device or something to allow us to play all of our old games?! We paid for these games. They remake the old games so they can up the price. It's not fair. The one thing I loved the most about having a Sony PS was the BC. Now it may be gone for good.

@wms278 I know. I mean, if there is a PS4 in the future, shouldn't that mean that PS3 games eventually won't work on it? Imagine the outcry that would bring for people unable to play Black Ops, or MW3, or Uncharted

You could have bought a 60GB on Ebay or Amazon.

@TheMaxPain95 I could've done yeah, the only problem is, a number of people I know who have the original models' have had problems in the space of a couple of weeks and we've all lost our PS's. Besides, on eBay, all you can get are damaged ones or they're missing something important.

the old PS3 was two expensive to make and to buy thats why they took the Backwards Compatibility out of the slim
