keep the purple things on his arms so that if you go down you can destroy them in a few bullets and get a second wind

Just take 4 Combat Rifles with you , keep running around and shoot his arms.
He dies in ca. 1-2 minutes

This is NOT the final boss. The final bosses are Crawmerax and MINAC.

9 people couldnt kill the destroyer

ya as a soldier with ammo regen running out of ammo would never happen so long as you have the support gunner class mod
also you can sit be hind the big arch on the right if the other place doesnt work

First time I fought this guy I just stood right up in his face and blasted him with a shotgun. He died very quickly :\
