What: Driving Diary (12 month experimental project)

Where: South Australia

Why: To record 12 months of my life driving, and in the process reflect on my own driving behaviour and to possibly highlight how other ppl's behaviours can impact negatively on us. Accidents can be so easily avoided.

Observation (s):
0.09-1:12: tailgating
1.32-1:50: cigarette discarded into traffic
2.02-2:05: turning on to a road without looking
2:10-2:15: almost run a red light
2:47-4:42: white ute driving recklessly
4:44-4:46: red car almost hits side mirror/car behind
5:29-5:40: red light jumpers
5:49-5:58: almost side swiped in car park
6:11-6:15: car almost hits the back of another
6:30-6:56: accident scene on side of road

This was all one trip, into the CBD and out again via Marion Shopping Centre. Cuts are for brevity only. No other editing.

Conditions: excellent, temp low 20's C

Date/Time: Tuesday, 16 Dec 2008, around lunchtime

- GreenHill Road
- Sturt Road
- Marion Shopping Centre

Sound: I only keep one CD in the car and change that weekly, so there will be some repetition. GPS also makes a few sounds and audible directions.

This is for educational (not punitive) purposes, it is my belief that citizens shouldn't police other citizens.

The pot calling the kettle black.. In Ireland Road Safety Authority have a saying " Only a fool breaks the 2 second rule", the same in the UK. USA it's 3 seconds. Australia 2 sec At certain points you were under 1 sec. So make a new video and obay the Rules of the Road !!

@keimpe112 Is that why the “Worst drivers by profession” top 10 are all car drivers, no truck drivers. And why a person dies in a car accident every 12 minutes and each year car crashes kill 40,000 people. And yet there was a 12% decrease in large-truck crash fatalities from 4,822 in 2007 to 4,229 in 2008. And 75% of truck involved accidents are caused by cars drivers. Looks like car drivers are the real “idiots on wheels”

@axleruler And get rear-ended. I did it once, and a guy almost rear ended me, then got in cut in front of me (by driving on the shoulder), slamming on his brakes. Then he sped off cutting people of and tailgating while weaving in and out of traffic. About 5 miles down the hwy I saw him pulled over by CHP. Moral of story, “let idiots go by, they will get it sometime.” And you wont, almost be an accident
