A lot of people seem to think that Islam is a religion of hate and war. I wonder how many people thought that way about Christians when they burned mosques and synagogues in Jerusalem, killed non-Christians who didn't want to convert, tortured people and even killing off entire civilizations.

Do Muslims show "god damned" respect to women, gays, or anyone who disagrees with their religious views? No. They show God endorsed hate, violence, and bigotry. NO Islamic 'empire' has EVER show tolerance and respect. Muhammad himself started countless "holy wars" to invade, persecute, and kill thousands of people.

Religious texts 'preach peace' if you squint hard enough and pick and choose which passages to take seriously. Religion is at most a corollary of morality, not the cause of it. And in many cases, it poisons and corrupts morality, as for example in the sick and infantile obsession with virginity and homosexuality.
But yeah, imperialism sucks ass as well. The US has killed far more people in the Middle East than Islamist terrorists ever did.
