What bothers me is that they compare the fission process, which occurs in the sun, to the fusion process we utilize in nuclear power plants. Those are two very different things.

OMG, hope this is a case of your mistyping rather than bad science knowledge.

FISSION is the breaking of atoms, releasing energy. THIS is the process in ALL current nuclear power plants & A-bombs.

FUSION is the merging light atoms into heavier elements, producing energy. THIS is the process deep in the sun & in H-bombs. We have NO viable fusion power plant reactors at this time. Its been '20 years' away for 60 years now. Much harder than fission.

I hope you just got the words backwards. :-)
