"Melancholy on A Journey"???This song has truly melancholic but beautiful melody. The lyrics of ENKA is timeless sorrows.Well now, coming to my mind why Japanese people mostly love those sad songs?Do they have unhappy memories of love-affair?Will it be the reason of that I wonder?Oh,,,I'm sorry Masami for asking silly questions.>_<***))) I was just only interested in.That's all.
Anyhow.A great presentation of both singers Teresa and Midori.

Dear Makim、
Enka is so-called Japanese blues linked to Japanese cultures including festivals, harvests, daily lives, etc., just like blues and gospels in America. In Japan, Teresa happened to sing many songs of lost love, although they do not necessarily represent past real lives of men and women in Japan. Japanese people of 50s or above lived with those broad range of Enka songs during 1960s-1980s, and majority of young people like quite different modern songs at present.
