Hows that poor hourly wage, no benefits, no pension plan, and no overtime working out for you?...you may regret being so anti-union one day, esp. when youre older....

Joan Baez does a superb rendition of this classic labor song. The singer who originally put his soul into this song was, of course, Paul Robeson. He was an excellent actor and had one of the finest voices of the century, a rich bass baritone.

Don't know exactly why, but this song always makes me cry. When I saw Joan Baez perform it live a few years ago, I was just bawling.

A great song -- simple and true. The passion of "Workers of the World, Unite!" was the battle cry that created the 40 hour (or so) work week, an end to child labor, the right to organize, health and safety at the work-site laws, and on and on. Would "the company" have ever considered justice without the workers knocking on the door? No. And they're trying to cut off and cut out every worker they can: for greed, for unlimited profit. But we still have guitars and we still have poets!

Are Unions perfect? No, but who else will be a voice for the workers? Do you trust the company or government you work for to look out for your best interest? I Don't.
