@SupaNami Lower taxes for companies would not have brought jobs here. Why? Without giving a company a reason to hire, they're not going to. And contrary to popular belief, companies do not hire in order to get a tax cut. The only way they'll hire is if the demand for their good and/or service goes up. The middle class are the real drivers of this economy. They're the real job creators. Give the middle class more spending power and this economy will take off.

@SupaNami When someone buys a GM product, that money doesn't go to China. It stays here because GM is an American-owned automaker. I see what you're saying, but I disagree with you on it. If GM and Chrysler would've failed, this country would've been thrown into a depression not just because of the loss of jobs in the auto industry, but also in the industries that the auto industry supports. Right down to the service station attendant, the auto industry supplies ALOT of incomes.

@1klfleming I was, too. Two deployments to Afghanistan later, and it seems like more of my fellow moderate/liberal atheists are serving than the Christian conservatives. The Christian conservatives seem to always be the ones who keep the minimum wage low, healthcare out of reach, education prohibitively expensive, tariffs favorable to ship jobs overseas, and somehow it all gets blamed on the immigrants who come here illegally to 'steal' jobs Americans refuse to do anyway.
