  • nice vid man! i got two ricks, a 4003 and a laredo. love them both-4004 has lots of bottom end but the 4003 is more unique. glad you are talking tech here, most rick owners only seem to talk about colour. not a slap guy (i love hearing OTHER people do it like marcus miller etc) but you do it well. i play blues and doom metal, usually with a pick. didn't pick ricks for the name, they have the tone and comfort factor i like. love your work.

  • Wow, that looks hard as shit to get a really good tone out of a Richenbacker, but you made it look easy. You're such a BOASSS!

  • @PANICBLADE the closest to a ric is a lakeland in h/s profile or ajazz with active p/u like geddy's model for tone applicability

  • @PANICBLADE Dude go start your own blog or something.

  • @MarloweDK how high/low should the action be to slap

  • Anybody who says you can't do this or you can't do that on a particular model or brand of bass only says it because THEY can't do it.

  • @gamecubedude03 just remember there will always be someone who will say otherwise and thats fine, thats how you decide, theres stuff wrong with fenders and ernie balls and g&ls too, but you asked if I thought the ricky was worth it. I do not because it seems that its never good enough on its own for anybody, its design is inherently flawed, and its pretty uncomfortable to play for some. Amazing bass? YES. Worth $2,200? Not by a long shot. if you have a ricky or still want one more power to you.

  • @gamecubedude03 not to mention through neck basses, while sounding great are a huge risk. and i know people are gonna say things like ive had my 4001 rick for 900 years and nothing bad has happened, but they probably didnt travel to many different climate areas, or spend hours on planes or leave the instrument under hot lights, or they have amazing techs do that stuff for them. also when you replace your frets on a rick which is soon because the frets are small/weak, it will be suuper expensive.
