You are on the right track, talking about it, nest step tell those who provide (Parents) to remove their children from that type of community. Too many young "Black" boys are interested in a meaningless, destructive life. I was raise in SC Los Angles and know to well to woes of gang violence. I was jump by 18 gang baggers when I was 18 yrs old. The outcome wasn't good for them...

I totally agree with you, we do have to get it together.
Sometimes I wonder what other people(non blacks) really think about black people. I know it's foolish, but I even worry about getting far in the field of work I want to go in (I want to be a comic book artist and work in video games). One of my friends told me I'll have a harder time because I am a black AND I am a female :(

You can't worry to hard about what they think about you...it's only gonna drive you crazy in the end. All you can work with are the people in your live who care about u and are willing to work with you. Don't be discouraged to be an artist, sister. But just a quick thing: you may want to ask your friend why they would wanna tell you u something like that in the first place. Friends aren't supposed to set handicaps and limits, they're supposed to encourage you to do anything...no matter the case.
