@musicfreak123456 - This has been covered quite a bit. He never had throat cancer. But he does have muscle tension disphonia. I'm certainly no doctor, and have only pulled this information from a lot searches, as I too miss that voice. Some say it's a condition that he 'may' be able to recover from, and others say the kind he has cannot be improved. I've also heard that he's had quite a bit of therapy to regain what little voice he has now, and is content to just play the guitar.
