My friend Bridget wanted me to make a coloring tutorial for her. This is my first tutorial, and I don't know if I'm really good at explaining...so sorry if it isn't the best :/

The lineart and character in this picture belongs to Hidekaz Himaruya.
I do not own the music, or the picture. I just colored the hair.

  • @only900more2go i would love to see some of your drawings/colorings ^_^ i'm very curious!

oh, and i would recommend getting a tablet! it's so much easier than a mouse! and your last Christmas? may i ask why it's your last? D:

  • @TSL108 i have stepped back from it now. it was really upsetting and i think i probably wont go back to it. i have started newer peices but nothing major, just bits and pieces so far. i think i pretty much understand how to use gimp now, i just wonder how different it is to use tablet instead of mouse...im thinking of getting it, especially since this will be my last christmas! >.<

  • @only900more2go well, if i were you, i would restart the lineart on a transparent layer and do it the easier way. it may take a bit of time to redo the lineart, but it will be worth it once the coloring is done :) it's all up to you, though.

and for blending? i always use smudge! blur is a rarely used tool for me..i feel that it doesn't blend very well. smudge is what i've been using ever since i started blending~

  • @TSL108 yay, i have a sensei! XD well i up until watching a few more vids from youtube i had no idea that my lineart could still be a transparent layer....so now i have the option of coninuing what i started for color, or just going back to the lineart and redo the coloring in an easier method...which do you recomend? and i am having a hard time blending. what tool do i use? up until now i have used smudge but then i considered blurr and other things. which do you use?

  • @only900more2go oh, constructive criticism is necessary! without it, no one would succeed :3 and thank you very much ^////^ and yes, computer art can also be very simple if you know the right ways to use the program :) and i would be honored to be your gimp sensei! XDD what is it that's troubling you?

  • @TSL108 yeah, i actually noticed that on your page the art's hair parts are shaded differently than from this vid. i only give constructive criticism, and as for, "URCOLORINGSUX", you're not bad at all, it was very nice. :) you really are a good artist. i am an artist too but i am new to gimp. computer art these days is so much more crisp and clean, it would be easier to sell if i wanted to on the side. im still having trouble tho, can u help? i will even call you sensei! XD
