merlot has Narcolepsy

Horses falling down at unexpected times are a pretty common problem. When you combine 1100 pounds of nervous energy in a confined environment, it is amazing that they do not fall more. Some horses seem to have repeated episodes of falling, similar to fainting, and it occurs repeatedly under the same environmental conditions. This may be during restraint, grooming, feeding, tacking up, or even during breeding. Many of these episodes are probably a form of epilepsy or cataplexy called narcolepsy. This article discusses this disorder and possible treatments and prognosis

  • @megzal what dose that mean

  • wanna get a new horse that yolk is like grampa simson,,

  • my cousin had a horse with narcolepsy. if you were riding him at the walk he would fall asleep and start sleep walking. he would also fall asleep in his water bucket.

  • My horse also had Narcolepsy.. She would start like this then just drop to the ground... it didnt matter if she was in the cross ties, with a ridder on her back.. if she stood still too long.. down she would go. We had her tested for HYPP becuase she was a quarterhorse... but that was negative. Vet said she had narcolepsy and said to be careful around her when she had attacks becuase like with a person in a sezuire she wouldnt know what she was doing.

  • Looks like sleep deprivation as explained in an article on the equisearch website, look under horses care, health, behavior, sleep disorder, 121506

Hope you can find it, the link wouldn't post.
