Just got this new head so I thought I'd make a quick video demo of a few of the sounds with a couple of different guitars.

I normally use an overdrive pedal as a boost when I play with my Recto, but I wasn't using it for this video...it was just guitars straight into the amp.

  • Mesa Traditional > Mesa Oversized

  • Although I've never tried the Oversized, I've heard from many sources that they're actually better than the Traditionals. I'd like to give one a try...

I bought my traditional cab used with my Dual Recto head so I couldn't choose what I wanted.

  • I have the oversized, have played the traditional, and am buying the traditional in 2 weeks.

The oversized might be better for things liek big open chords but for metal the traditional is all around better, more tight, focused and just better.

The extra bass on the oversized is overwhelming for metal, if you play like blink 182 stuff (which I don't think you do) the oversized is nice because the extra bass isn't overwhelming.

  • I'll keep that in mind. :)

  • Too bad. :O

  • @megametalmaestro Set the head's impedance to 8 ohms and just use the 8 ohm input on the back of the cab. It will be the bottom right input.

  • Yo Im about to get this combination of amps. Can you help me with how to set the impedance. What do you set it to?

  • Nevermore!

  • ha, yeah i knew that. dunno why i said that. anyways, yeah the traditional with a 5150 is like mid range insanity! way too many mids in my opinion.

  • Hey again... :) and a standard rec and an oversized rec are the same amp. standard rec is the name and people have dubbed it the oversized. therefor, oversized = standard. and stiletto = traditional.

  • traditional with a 5150? no. def not. go either standard rec or oversized.

  • nice video. what are your amp settings?

  • I got my traditional last night buddy!
