Part 2 of a demonstration of a tutorial I found at mistressof design blog. Many thanks to Clairharford for the original.
This part shows you how to split, save and use your shaded maps.

  • Oh, and when you want to select the sections, use canvas size and in the box that pops up with the arrows in, click the above or below arrows to offset the image.

  • Yes Girl it does. You don't need the PSPI, just the normal maps and the filter. Add it to your filters in plugins in photoshop as you unzip it.

After that, the only difference is in getting rid of the background. Use magic wand instead of fuzzy select tool. I actually use PS3 much more than I use GIMP.

  • Thank you frozenroses and LordJames.

It's lovely to be able to pass something on :)

  • Thank you Galya and Heavenly. Your comments are much appreciated :)

  • Does this same thing work for Photoshop?

  • Thank you so much for making this! I just started out trying to design clothes and manual shading exploits were just ridiculously fruitless. This makes everything so much easier and you did a wonderful job explaining it. I learned a lot! =)

  • I am just brushing up on as many tutorials as i can before i give it a try, im pretty good with gimp. Im glad i watched this, Im gonna give it a try soon. Also you have amazing voice!!

  • Wow Eloise. Thank you. I barely know anything about Gimp and I have never used PS, but in an effort to learn I have taken quite a few in-world classes, which, sadly have been more frustrating than anything (although I am very grateful to be able to try). I learned more from your two videos then in all classes combined. You have a gift for teaching; your style is extremely helpful in its pace, clarity & thoroughness. Though I admit I didn't get the purpose until the end but I am new at this lol

  • Thank you Eloise. This is a very helpful video!
