  • I feel like a little boy in a candyshop!! Thanks!!

  • Lose the subs, dammit. Great documentary.

  • This is exactly what I wanted to see. Absolutely fantastic to see what they went through to make this movie. It is fucking amazing what they were able to accomplish with such MINIMAL technology. This film, to this day, is more pleasing to my eyes than fucking Avatar or other huge, CGI riddled movies nowadays. It's gritty, it's real... Ridley understands ATMOSPHERE.

  • @akatsukimercenary No disrespect but I think Tolkien would have *hated* the Jackson movies. He wrote a long outline of things he didn't want to see in a LotR's film (it's in his published letters) and Jackson violated just about everything on Tolkien's list :P I'm not sure PKD would've been as cool with the whole BR movie as he was with the "look" of the film. But who knows...BR is a great film 'tho.

    Well said.

  • I could imagine if there a time machine available, Peter Jackson could have travelled back in time, with the three Lord of the Rings films in hand, and gave J.R.R. Tolkien the same experience of seeing his beloved novel brought to life. At that time, he thought that his novels couldn't be dramatized into films. I think Tolkien would be impressed in seeing his novels into movies if he saw them. I would if my novel was made into a movie and have the same viewing experience Dick had.

  • @TK42138 ; Well, look at movies like the Lord of the Rings, such hard work came into being to bring forth visuals and scope never attempted before, even before Avatar. Jackson used real and visual points together, hence why they use body doubles for the Hobbits, the Humans and the Dwarves or how massive the armies were in the movies. Blade Runner should further be studied by today's visual effects artists to bring forth natural visuals to movies, like Lord of the Rings did to scope and size.

  • shoot it real..it looks better.

  • Even the 'making of' video is superb. I think CGi artists and FX designers would do well to study and watch the methods and techniques of these legends. As was mentioned towards the end of this video with regards to matt and glass paintings - sometimes less is more. I've noticed in many recent CGi heavy films that sometimes there is just too much detail in background plates which ruins the sense of mass and scale.
