  • By the way, I'm not discriminating against Irish singers- I AM Irish, in the sense that I was born in, and currently live in Ireland. Maura O'Connell and Mary Black are Irish. Actually, Mary's voice isn't what it used to be...

  • @velvetunderpants44 I absolutely agree!

  • @velvetunderpants44 I couldnt agree with you more!

  • Everyone's got different tastes I suppose. My own favourite is the one with Emmylou and the McGarrigles on the brilliant Transatlantic sessions. I love Maura and Delores' voices, but frankly I find absolutely nothing remotely musical in the voices of either Elenor Shanley or Tommy Fleming. Their voices just hurt my ears.

  • @dectheboner Dolores Keane has gone through an uncomprehendable amount of heartache and trouble in her life. Her voice is a true representation of irishness.

  • I'm not sure they know that it is just about the saddest song ever written.

  • I like Emmy Lou Harris's version better

  • If you want to hear this song as it should be sung, listen to the Dylan version

  • @nurseyj The queen of Irish rednecks

  • Unfair comment about Dolores and the champagne Ruairi.... Pissed as a fart she could still out sing anyone else on that stage... Queen of irish soul
