.223 and .556 are not the same. They use the same projectile, but case wall thickness (of the brass) is different. The 5.56 is a thicker wall. This allows it to handle higher pressures-also creates higher pressures with the same powder charge as .223 case.
So, you can fire a .223 in a 5.56 rifle, it is not advisable to fire a 5.56 in a .223 marked rifle. A 5.56 rifle has a stronger chamber too.
5.56 round + .223 rifle = KB Stop listening to the guy at the WalMart counter for your gun info.

I kind of wish they went with a bullpup design. Bullpup is better in urban close combat situations.

@numbuhfour33 those sights you see in this video are Troy Industries Battle sights which are identical to the ones u see in Black Ops. Magpul im pretty sure were still developing the MBUS sight at the time therefore not present on the Masada in the vid.

not to be the "COD gamer boy" or anything....but since when did the ACR have black ops sights?
-
actually in europe its still the 556. its based heavily off of the 550 action system though, which, like you said, is a combo of the AK and the AR platforms. They are smooth guns and operate like a dream. Wish they made one that would chamber the new 6.8 SPC Rem round. I might buy one then...

Almost all stock mags are identical the only ones that are worth a damn are PMAGs and Hk's mags that come with the 416 if you could tell me why they jam i'd be shocked.
-
@rumsey91w Unfortunately the Sig 5.56's magazines are crap. They jam up quite frequently. If you buy a Sig 5.56 you're better off just throwing the magazines that came with it away. And buy PMAGS.

oh dick this is the real one...i thought it was the airsoft one at first i was like holly crap! thats real!
-
Yes they operate the same but sig 556 has a ton of outsourced parts where as the 550 or 552 has all its parts made at the sig factory. I just wouldn't run a 556 as hard as an AK or 550 or a mil-spec AR i have seen allot of parts break in 556 just my experience

I have personally removed the top cover of an ak poured dirt into it and then shot 3 mags through it the large open spacing in the receiver allows it to function in dirt and grime
-
yes it does
-
The rifes are identical in every way except for the lower receiver, which is semi auto and has a push button mag release for M4 magazines which in my opinion is better and more efficient and yes i've taken them both apart side by side they are identical in every single way except the lower receiver.
I'm impressed with the specs on the MagPul but not this video.

It is actually one of the most impressive videos that exist of the Masada. The reason is that this was the first time the prototype rifle was fired. Just four months before this video the rifle existed only as lines on a wipe board.

Can i ask something?
How did you develope the gas system and bolt asembly? - because it looks just like the system that G36 from H&K uses.
Polenar 4 years ago
It should look a little like the G36 as both the Masada and G36 were built upon the Stoner AR18 operating system. That said the gas system on the gen2 Masada has been upgraded to a new unique design.
