North Fork American River - Whitewater! High Flows 2011

We admit it. North Fork American River is our favorite whitewater river. This river is near Sacramento and San Francisco Bay Area. The entire area is rich with wilderness, rivers, lakes and pristine water.

And, now, it is threatened by the recent decision of the Bureau of Reclamation. The Bur of Rec is pulling all funding out of the Auburn State Recreation area due to lack of funds. Prob a million tourists flock to that area near Auburn, California to visit Mother Nature's wonderland.

Let's face it. We don't have much wilderness left near our metropolitan areas. And, this one is not just for paddlers and whitewater enthusiasts, but is a haven for fishermen, hunters, equestrians, backpackers, bicyclists and day hikers. Not, only that, but the area is home to world class triathalons and equestrian trails.

Please help us keep the Auburn State Recreation Area open. Famlies, friends and the rest of you, contact your legislators and demand that this area stay accessible to all!

It is in danger of being closed due to federal funding... not just whitewater rafting, but fishing, rafting, equestrian trails, hunting, bicycling, backpackers, day hikers, and swimming in one of the most pristine wilderness areas of California... and it's near Sacramento and San Francisco Bay Area.

@WETriverTrips WET i am totally with you on outdoor recreation values and have lived/travelled California my whole life. But this isnt about complete total reliance on the doughy slothlike Feds to pay for and thus assert majority control of our states recreational and wildlife resources.

I trust people in California to better understand how to care for our recreation spots more than I trust some bureaucratic lifer in Washington who doesnt know the North Fork from a dinner fork.
