FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER: @JWhiteBBTV - http://twitter.com/jwhitebbtv - In this episode Jeff will discuss using Best Yet Cedarcide for bed bugs. Over the years we've received many questions about the product and have a brief overview posted on BedBug Central here: http://www.bedbugcentral.com/research... Through research at Rutgers University we have found that it is one of the few all-natural, EPA exempt products that is highly effective against bed bugs and their eggs on contact. That being said, our concerns about the product are the strong odor associated with the application. When the product is used inside homes, the odor can become overwhelming to some (although the company claims there are no negative health effects from this odor). Also, the product is very oily and can leave a oily-residue behind where it is applied. This oily residue is enough of a concern that some have chosen not to apply it in their homes because of it. Please refer to the above link for more information on this product.

Bedlam can be a fine choice as part of a bed bug treatment plan for some cracks, crevices and other areas that are difficult to treat due to human exposure concerns (surfaces of couches, etc...) but should not be relied upon to solve a problem

Why is using fog "fogging" a very bad method to use to get rid of bedbugs??

not only is it repellent to bed bugs as koolmexi pointed out but foggers don't treat cracks and crevices where bed bugs are typically hiding, therefore not only do they not get to where the bugs are hiding but it can push bugs around your home or into other apartments (if you are in a multi-family housing situation)

I see nobody has responded Rebekah's question. The reason why fogging isn't recommended is that though it will kill many bugs it will also act as a flushing agent, meaning it'll irritate and drive away the bugs that survive. This could cause them to go deeper into hiding or if you live in an apartment it could have the potential to drive them to a next door unit, etc. Fogging never is used for complete control.

I have been using Cedarcide for about a year now to treat both vacant and occupied apartments. I am using a tri-nozzel fogger and while there is some oily residue, it is not too bad and has not caused any surface damage. It does appear to dry away after a short while. The odor issue has not been a problem and seems to be over-powering for only a short while. I typically apply, allow the fog to "rest' for about an hour and then introduce fresh air. A light odor remains for up to three/four days.

I'm in the industry. Sounds like you are also. I was always taught that cedar has a natural repellency that wears off over time. I don't know how long such a repellency would last on furniture. I never find insects in cedar closets. I recommend cedar mulch to my customers but the repellency there seems to be much shorter lived. This product seems to have promise but I would have the same concerns as this guy. I use Sterifab on bedding. odor goes quickly and is not oily.

I have used Best Yet cedarcide in my recent war on bedbugs. You're right! Very strong odor! I applied it to bedbugs directly and their little butts flipped backwards and killed them quickly. I applied it around the edges of a mattress. We sprayed it and left for awhile and it wasn't too bad. It was helpful to use in conjunction with the professional exterminators methods and made me feel like I could do something to help fight them off.

What about cedar beds and furniture? WIll that work as a pesticide? Will bedbugs live on cedar wood?
