  • People rely too much on samplers today. You really want to test your own skills.., take a step away from the sampler and create something from scratch. So many people today just sample someone elses work, slice/chop it up, add a few things and call it their own, when 90% of the beat is already there in the original sample. I agree with another poster. I don't think you realize the powerhouse synth you got there as people often buy these things and 95% of the time just use them as samplers.

  • Its not that people rely on samples, thats just what I like to do.

Coming up with something from scratch isnt hard, however there's just more fun to making beats when you sample.

Sampling is a skill, but evolves into an art that few can mimic.

Whether you are using a sample from back in the day or a synth on the Fantom, they're both Samples.

So it doesnt matter what sound you use, but how you use it. And then, YES it will be your own.

100% of the music people create came from somewhere..

  • That's pretty much it?

What a waste of a synth. Do you realise the power that is actually in these synths? You'd be better off with something like Ableton or Reason for sample based stuff. You're using this synth in such a basic form it's ridiculous.

  • Me too. Seeing as its my money, and my workstation, Ill do what I want. You may buy the Fantom for the synths, I bought it for the sampling.

Real music is a art, and like I said before, every sound we use on keyboards or the like are SAMPLEs, so what are you talking about?

  • yo hot beats my niggz........u think u could make a tutorial on how 2 chop a sample on the fantom x6?

  • Smackdee has a pretty good tutorial up now about chopping on the Fantom. Check it out!!!

  • I HAVE A MINT CONDITION FANTOM G8 LIKE NEW. SELLING FOR 2,450. ANYONE INTERESTED CONTACT ME.

  • tight track, sorry for all those haters man. you got skills, Music productions evolving not to just be available to the small group of classically trained kids but for anyone that has a good idea . keep up the good work.

  • Alotta people are retarded. You can do what ever you want with this workstation. None of the people out there hating on samplers realize that every single soudn or wave file inside your synth workstatin is a sample. The only difference is that the ones available anyone who buys the workstation can have the same sounds. When you sample only a few people out there are using the samples creatively to create new music. Besides why live in a box when the world is so wide open....

  • This is the lowest form of music, barely can call it that even.

I`m not even that accomplished technique wise as a piano and overall keyboard player, but I can play a song by Journey, Elton John or Billy Joel. That would be playing music on an instrument like this. I have the X7, XP80&30, and a Motif ES7 btw. I know the quality of sounds all these have. I agree with the other guys comment ...what a waste. Creativity is not in sampling and pushing keys to trigger them. It`s not a musician.
