The Trapdoor - Slither, Wriggle and Writhe

Berk is trying to put up some shelves for his master and is using Boni as a prop to hold up the shelf. Looking for some more wood, Berk's opens the trap door, but a huge octopus-like creature emerges with writhing arms and creates havoc in the kitchen.

You can't try to analyse trap-door you muppet. It's classic british humour and in those days, as with now, the humour was aimed at adults as well as children. That's why it's STILL funny today. Not like the shite they make for kids now with all the colourful nonsense speaking aliens and the patronising woman that speaks over the top.
