Not only was this conviction overturned by some Godless supreme court meddling, also the prosecutors of the case are now entangled in an investigation of misconduct by the United States government.
For capitol hill, this is about as shitty as it gets. No wonder we never got Rove.

About earmarks:
Earmarks are a means for Congress to re-apportion money that the Executive Branch (President) puts in budget - which is then raised by taxing us.
When the Bill goes to Congress, they look at it and they can amend it. That is an earmark.
Ted Stevens was a staunch resister to the Bush administration fight against this congressional power. No doubt it's why he was prosecuted.
Think about it - which public figure did not have a political stance against their prosecutors?
