Face the rough side towards the sun. Better focus on what you are trying to light!

I use a page magnifier that I bought at Staples for about $8.00. I bought one for each member of my family and it's in their survival/grab bags along with other fire starting materials and survival gear.

Neat trick, but I usually don't build a camp fire until it gets dark.

Lot of wind there starting that fire I just got one out of a projection tv 27 inch by 35 nice size going to use it tommorow when the sun is out.

It's called fresnellens. Just google for it and you'll find lots of infos.
This one i used cost maybe 10USD and is flexible.
