@AshKatalyst I honestly think that Elijah loves or cares for Elena. I mean seriously all the exceptions he has made for her and all the promises to keep her safe. He always comes through on his end...

I feel so and so sorry for Elijah. For a vampire who doesn't negotiate or make promise, he's an exception. Few times elena made deals with him, then he got killed right on the spot. he's alive again, looks for elena, elena made a deal with him, then killed him again. the cycle goes on and on. same with him and klaus. klaus promised to show him their family members, and ended up, he got killed, AGAIN. omg LOL

because she's the doppelganger...they can't allow her to die! they need her to break the curse and if she turned into a vampire she'd be just as useless.
and no she didn't have any vampire blood in her system but stefan or damon wouldn't have allowed her to die, so they would have fed her their blood and then elena would kill herself right after (and obviously she'd turn into a vampire)
