Hummingbirds are birds that comprise the family Trochilidae. (This is a mature male Calliope Hummingbird) They are among the smallest of birds, most species measuring in the 7.5--13 cm (3--5 in) range. Indeed, the smallest extant bird species is a hummingbird, the 5-cm Bee Hummingbird. They can hover in mid-air by rapidly flapping their wings 12--90 times per second (depending on the species). They can also fly backwards, and are the only group of birds able to do so. Their English name derives from the characteristic hum made by their rapid wing beats. Excellent video -- I especially enjoyed the music choice -- the song had a lilting, effusive quality to it that captures the spirit of these fascinating birds! I'm a little concerned about the privacy rights of your subjects though; did you obtain a model release from the bird featured in this video? She looks underage too... please reply at your earliest convenience!

@Horticultural1 The bird, from here on known as 'cutie' did sign a release, although being an illegal alien who could not provide a passport or green card, 'cutie' might be deported in a few months back to warmer climates, even if she/he becomes a parent in Canada. There's no justice, just the law....lol
