  • Ok, resume: an old, fat man on his car meets a pretty girl and he thinks she's a whore. He offers a ride to her an she accepts. The old man, once upon the car, tries to touch her, but she slaps his hand. Tells him to give her his ring, if he wants to touch her. He gives it. She takes the ring and hugs the man, gives him a little kiss, then goes. Believe me, this is not italian, except for signorina...

  • first line "a pretty girl and a gay old man" xD wtf!!!

Yes this is Chaplin's voice. Dispite what some posted below, I can't imagine Chaplin letting anyone do anything for him. But this is not the first time Chaplin's voice was heard on film. A few years before, he returned to his native England for a vacation. The visit was covered by newsreel cameras, and Chaplin spoke on film for the first time. The footage survives. I have seen it.

  • @MFPhoto1 Okay. I stand corrected. I heard that his voice was dubbed in this film. However, I was wrong. He did actually speak in his first talkies. Sorry for the misinfo.

  • @MFPhoto1 Yes, this is one of his films, in which he used dialogue---for the OTHER actors, however, he strictly kept his tramp character silent. He once said, "The day the tramp speaks, is the day he dies." His later film, Monsieur Vordeux (sp), is the only film, where he retires his "tramp" character, and talks. There are three different actors, who dubbed his vocals for the dialogue.

  • @IcyMaking His voice was dubbed; he never permitted his tramp character to talk.

  • one of the greatest performers of all time

  • i want to translate the lyrics ! haha and omg one of my heros ! <3

  • @FreshSteff .... try Buster Keaton sometime ..
