Los Angeles Crest on fire 2009 night shots

Went out a few hours ago and got some time lapse of the Crest up in flames. Got as close as we could as the cops kept us from getting closer! Some pretty good shots, but HVX is not good in low light, and can't quite pick up the depth of the fire.
I love the Crest, it is one of the most amazing places on this planet, I love that I can see snow 20 minutes from downtown, I love that I can be in the middle of no where. The crest will grow back, but it is sad to see her drown in flame.

I grew up in La Canada. One of the most poignant memories I have as a child is watching the whole mountainside burning from a vantage point above the Rose Bowl. Yes, California does burn, but that fact doesn't lessen the pain and tremendous loss of property, animals, watershed and human beings.

I was in southern france the year that huge fire was started by an ex fireman. I've never felt so small in my life.. i was frightened but at the same time, in complete awe at this inferno, proving to be so hard for man to overcome. Its amazing in a horrible way!
On another note, what's the name of this music? It's really calming and wonderful!

Stunning video. The music you selected held my heart. Thanks. I used to live in the LA area. Sad to see this. I lived through "The Oakland Hills Fire" in 1991, barely got out alive, my home was destroyed. Watching the YouTube videos that people uploaded is just like being in the middle of it all over again. The power of Nature is mesmerizing... humbling...

Yeah it's very strange, we got as close as we could to the fire, and it is actually calming being there, something about being so close to such overwhelming destruction humbles you, you actually feel very safe, it's strange.
