Among the Fallen is a compellingly deep film that delves into the unexplored inner workings of the human mind, by balancing both the physical and mental horrors that a person experiences when dealt a horrible loss of a loved one, and combines that with the gruesome visual decadence of a zombie film. Combining the reflective aesthetics of art-house cinema with the gory and primitive nature of zombie films, Among the Fallen brings about an original story of a grieving writer named Will Ashford, as he struggles to come to terms with the tragic death of his wife and unborn child.

Breaking off from the rest of the world, Will journeys to a secluded cabin to both finish his novel and cope with his depression. It is here that Will must battle his inner and outer demons as he descends into a downward spiral of haunting memories, ravenous creatures, and startling truths. With its violent nature and uncompromising portrayal of a man struggling to survive both bittersweet memories of what once was and an onslaught of mysterious watchers that begin appearing in the surrounding woods, Among the Fallen is a heavily atmospheric film drenched in zombie lore.

Gathering inspiration from such filmmakers as Dario Argento, Lucio Fulci, and George Romero, the film combines a plethora of unconventional themes to create an unorthodox and surreal zombie story with a human soul and a lot of bite.

  • Excellent work, the filming is great, and the utilization of music and effects throughout the film was powerful, emotional/passionate, suspenseful...your faculties need to be prepared

This film demands attention and gets it

    Bravo

  • @jayskitstar Hi jayskitstar. I want to tell you my personal thoughts on your film. It was great, and I could tell this was low budget, but you used a lot of camera techniques and I like that. I see what your doing, and its like I Am Legend, make you feel for the character on an emotion level, make it compelling. I feel the movie you have made was a bit like a silent film, a bit more dialogue and more indepth in the story and this would be even better than it already is. Bravo sir, kudos to you.

..... If I ever revisit this film, I think I would flesh it out a bit more and add some dialogue, but as of now I'm kind of liking the strange atmosphere that the silent hero story gives off. It's kind of peaceful, yet chaotic and unsettling at the same time. Something just feels kind of off and that parallels what the main character is going through and what he eventually comes to find out about his life. Thanks for checking the film out and taking the time to write.

  • @Mikster35

......Like you said, the film is pretty much a silent film where we are dependent on the main characters actions to tell the story. Because of this, I wanted to make sure that there were more elements to the story, both visually and thematically, that could hold the audiences attention and hopefully pull them into the story.....

  • @Mikster35

Thanks Mikster! Glad you liked it. Yeah it was definitely done low budget and I was hoping that we could make up for it with some interesting shots and camera movements. Happy to know that we pulled it off somewhat in your eyes. I also wanted to bring some emotional undertone to the story and to give it another layer, so to speak, for the viewer to attach themselves too.

  • @venxs5

Yeah Venxs, it is a different kind of film and I wasn't really expecting too many people to get it or be interested in it. It's my stab at an artsy horror flick. Thanks for checking it out.

  • @venxs5 well it was good filming but not my taste

  • @venxs5

Hey Venxs, the look of the film was intentionally stylized in order to tell the story in a more visual sense. Within the context of the film, and with all of the unnatural and otherworldly things that happen to the main character, I wanted to relate both the story and the imagery into one surreal package. The setting for the entire film is not placed in the natural and ordinary world, so I felt that I could represent this fact in a more vibrant way. Not trying for the norm.
