More than half of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) are planning to use cloud computing technology this year, according to new research.
The report by internet service provider, Easynet Connect, found that nearly three-quarters of SMEs are planning on using the technology over the next five years. This is up from 2008, when just under half of SMEs said they'd be using cloud.
Over half of SMEs now also believe that the technology could save them money.
But nearly three quarters say they have no formal strategy in place for implementing cloud computing.
Gareth Williams, a senior analyst with Analysys Mason says time will tell as to whether cloud computing takes off in the way that it's predicted.
And he claims businesses might be totally prepared for implementing and managing a cloud computing service.
