I believe records are meant to be played and enjoyed. I do appreciate your critique but 78s, in my opinion, are worthless if they aren't played.

Ha ha! I've been listening to Dorothy Shay for 60 years. Never heard this

song before though. I couldn't understand what you said was missing

either. But I probably don't have one.

Had a college roommate in the 1950s. By that time the LP record

had been invented. He still played 78s on his Victrola w/ a horn. You

could buy 78s for a dime in those days.

As a long time collector of phonographs and records, I think it's inadvisable to play such a late 78 on this type of machine. 78's. especially post-WW II vintage have slightly narrower grooves and less robust materials. This accelerates wear on these, especially with a loud needle. This pressing sounds rather worn as it is. Please excuse the criticism, but this advice is from long experience, Could not make out what thing you said was still missing.  Best wishes.
