Good and informative. I suggest using a 6 foot ladder vs. a 2 step in case it a hot wire were to bite you. Also, if you could hold the new box up to the camera for us to see what type/size you were installing. Otherwise, I think I can now replace my own chirpee. Kind Thanks!

@KYLESRANCH A 6 foot ladder would actually work the best so you can get right up there. I didn't tell what actual one I used as there are several choices (styles & name brands) you can pick from, at your local hardware store, & every store seems to not have the same ones. One type is only battery operated & the other type has a backup battery & is also connected to the hard wiring to a house. Make sure you get the right type. Thanks for commenting. Joe :0

WHOA...our smoke alarm has been chirping for the last month. My dad couldn't figure out how to take it off the wall. He thought we just needed new batteries...but i have been watching these videos and realize that we need to replace the whole detector. Had ours since we bought the house in 1992...OVERDUE
i watched this video and figured out hoe to do it...got it off the wall...will get a new detector in the morning. THANKS ツ

@monkeycstars Are you sure it just doesn't need a battery replaced? Some detectors are wired into the electrical system & others are not. Make sure you check to see which type you have before purchasing a new smoke alarm detector. Thanks for your comments. Glad to see you are learning by watching 'joe'! :0
