"What Fiendish Passion Twisted His Mind--Made Him Torment, Torture, Kill?"
A beautifully shot "B" movie based on Charles Starkweather and Caril Fugate who would later inspire both Terrance Malick's Badlands and Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers.
Most of the movie takes place in one location and involves only 5 actors. It's very simple yet totally engaging and suspensful. This movie does much with little in terms of production and star power. From the opening sequence you will be hooked in.
Most of the people involved in this movie didn't do much after it with the notable exception of the DP, Vilmos Zsigmund who subsequently worked on a host of excellent films including The Deer Hunter for which he was nominated for an Oscar and Close Encounters of the Third Kind for which he won the Oscar. Other excellent movies he worked on include The Last Waltz, McCabe and Mrs. Miller, Deliverance and a personal nostalgic favorite of mine, Real Genius.
One of Marilyn Manning's finest roles.

Good movie. Arch Hall Jr. and Marilyn Manning were very good as the crazy couple. But the star was Helen Hovey..Hall Jr's cousin.

Some of the crew in the opening credits also worked with George Romero (Night Of The Living Dead).
