Fred Dibnah was called in originally to demolish the chimmney stack in Glynllifon, and ended up restoring the steam engine instead.

The steam engine was built at the De Winton Foundry in Caernarfon, which now belongs to my father, this is a home movie which I've converted from VHS, my father is the one behind the camera.

  • Fred has been described as a 'national treasure' but I think that's going a bit too strong... then again... I can't think of anyone else who fits the description - can you? There is something so primal and alive about steam that seems to fulfil the balance of our basic nature - earth, air, fire and water.

  • i have always been a fred fan... please check out my fred songs on my channel.... alan
