Talented, smart and articulate, a young Indo-Canadian teen was crowned Miss Teen Canada Global 2005 at the 2nd annual pageant for Variety, the Childrens Charity.
Vancouver, Lower Mainland, BC After months of hard work and dedication, the winner of Miss Canada Teen Global 2005 was finally revealed. The 17-year-old delegate from downtown Vancouver shined throughout the night, but her speech won her the crown. This Indo-Canadian teen addressed issues about the pressure and negative impact media has on young women today.
The Indo-Canadian teen won over $18,000 in cash prizes and scholarships, a week's holiday in Las Vegas, Nevada to represent Canada internationally, professional photo shoots, radio, magazine, television and charity appearances. Ami also won the first runner up Broadcasting Award for which she recieved a $4000 scholarship to Columbia Academy.
Not only was a queen crowned that night, but several others were recognized for their achievements. Winning the top talent award was Michelle Gonzalez of Surrey who salsa-ed her way into a $500 cash scholarship. Elma Enan, Vancouver, sang her way into the second place spot of the talent category. Exceeding fundraising expectations, Navreet Jagpal, Delta and Shyla Chandra, Vancouver, were recognized for their outstanding efforts.
The pageant takes place annually at the Bell Performing Arts Center in Surrey, BC with media sponsors including The Beat 94.5 and Global TV.
