  • What was the question?

  • Lurcher, lurcher x galgo

They use fast salukis with ones with great stamina, sometimes 10 dogs at one gazelle as seen on youtube. Every prey needs certain dogs that is a fact, but i like comparising different dogs.

To me a saluki is more like rhoodesian ridgeback, it is not so fast, it hasen't got that top gear, but the saluki in the vid is very fast, but why compare it to a grey, they are miles apart in speed and ofc also in stamina

  • what exactly is a comparisment? and how is this a good one, the whippet didnt even look keen, saluki was bouncing on the slip and the whippet was looking the wrong way, just chased the saluki. ffs.

  • FORFUCKSAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahaha, dunno, if i had more films i´d show them, yes that saluki was damn fast and no the whippet did not chase the other dog, in LC a whippet will always go for the lure.

  • Wow what a race--such speed!

  • i bet Luna was just like that when she flew out of those american boxes!!

  • and in dry acrid hot conditions on lose sand

  • Ive got a 18mth old Sal, and he has had a few good runs with both Greys and Whips.

Some he has come out on top, i:e longer distances, and others he has lost out on easily.

The greys and Whips are wll known to lose out on staminer to a Sal, but there again they are bred for different reasons and prey anyway, so its hard to compare one act in the dogs.

I loved the vid though, would like to see more!

It did look as if the whip was watching the lure coming.

  • I am inclined to disagree a bit having owned many sighthounds. I have actual track times for salukis averaging 34 mph to 36.5 mph. That is comparable to the some track greyhounds. A rhodesian ridgeback probably tops out around 30 mph. Greyhounds are superior at accelerating, to whatever top speed they have, but their actual highest speeds aren't much higher than a good saluki. My saluki caught a greyhound at the first turn on a dog track. The saluki has superior feet and endurance.

  • i'm not sure but i think that also setter and pointer are better runner than wippet and greyhound in 5km...i'm glad t see a video about this

  • There is NO comparing a Greyhound, whippet, with a Saluki...NEVER! The stamina, endurance, and speed of a Saluki over long distance is legend...Iam not just saying a few kilometers either...I speaking of covering very vast open desert, gaining upon the gazelle, and then the dog accelerating to finish...What sighthound can cover that distance, a fast speed, and then caught the prey with a good finish and NOT be that winded or weak to tackle game. Greyhounds do good on fields with hares...;)

  • lethal lads!!!

  • The Whippet is only faster in short distance !!! He is a sprinter after 400 yards the saluki is faster and has more endurance than a Whippet or evan a greyhound.....watch on youtube : saluki chasing a gazelle.

a saluki cann hold his speed for kilometers !
