  • I don't understand why individuals fight over what the Olympians had done. Lets try acknowledging all of their hard work. Yes, they all want to win gold, but others fighting over it and making a big deal out of it is not the best idea. There's always someone looking for a fight, I suppose?

  • Nationalism taken to this extreme is ignorance. Same for americans saying the same in reverse.

  • Yep. In the first 50 you can see Lezak hugging the lane next to him. Definitely it made a difference, because he was able to conserve a bit for that final push. Lezak is a veteran, and he used every trick in the book to pull that off. Still, Bernard did not swim the last 50 the way that he did in the individuals. I think that part was psychological.

  • didn't he admit to riding the wave? smarter before harder

  • All wrong. Lezak won because: He took longer more powerful strokes in the last 50m. Bernard covered the last 50m in 42 strokes. Lezak did it in 34. Bernard did it in 37 for his gold medal. This means Lezak was focused and inspired and Bernard was either exhausted, or panicked or both. Probably both. He peeked at Lezak, suprised to see him close and started flailing his arms toward the end. No sour grapes for either racer. lezak isn't doping. He would have won the individual 100 if so.

  • lezak won gold!! Not today for sure!!

    AHAHah!!...Alain Bernard is the king!!

    Allez Les Bleux!!

  • how lezak won gold? pharmaceuticals...

  • Winning on the back of Bernard's lead (wake), hence a zero bragging rights victory.
