Incident happened on 15/04/11

The registered keeper of vehicle failed to respond to several letters from the Police, they requested to know who was driving at the time of this incident.
The Police issued a summons to court for failing to nominate the driver.
The result came in the other day and the registered keeper was fined £400 + £85 costs and had 6 points put on his license.

--- What happened ---
The driver came up behind me rather close, I didn't like this and asked if he could give me more space. The driver said that it was OK because he didn't hit me. As we got going again the driver came very close behind me several times. The whole situation was very dangerous, parked vehicles to my left, a cement mixer to my right and a lunatic behind me.
As he managed to get passed me he immediately braked to try and force me into the back of him, luckily I was more than prepared for such a thing.

The incident was very shocking and I let off a fair about of shouting and swearing at the driver as he passed me.

  • @Lynxtro Oh yes, he brake tested me then and I certainly wasn't going to go in to the back of him.

  • @MrGrumpycyclist +1. There are too many idiots on the roads, I'm glad you got a result as this will hopefully send out a message.

  • @TheVexatiousLitigant The lengthy time period was down to the case manager becoming ill for a considerable amount of time. I chased with a contact and got a new case manager, at which point it was only 3 months until the result.

  • @CycleGaz Cheers for the reply. I'll e-mail them :)

  • happy for you.

  • @Dukinfieldcyclist There isn't. You will have to ask your police force if they can set one up if possible.

The only ones I know of are in London, Surrey and Sussex.

  • @Dukinfieldcyclist There isn't a roadsafe scheme in Manchester AFAIK, I wish there was.

  • @CycleGaz Is there anywhere in Manchester you know of to report people? I have to either send the police an e-mail, ring, or go into the station to report drivers. Maybe they should create a website. Theres an idea ^^
