It kinda is the piece was written for a full orchestra or a quartet but can be adapted all kinds of ways. The cello part is crucial. It really helps set the song.
The problem really is the way that guitars are sounding a little sharp, compared to the cello, which was often a little flat....too much twang on the guitar. Maybe if they tuned to the A and the cello was on an electric pick up. Or a bass guitar was there to balance out the sound of the other guitar..I dunno
