So many in the churches have been taught that this passage of scripture is the way of salvation for sinners. But that is not what Paul was teaching here. He never even heard of "accepting Jesus as Lord", or the "sinner's prayer"!
He was explaining to CHRISTIANS the difference between the righteousness of the law (the way Israel served God under Moses' law) and the righteousness of faith (the way Christians serve God under grace).
We are to continue in the faith of the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, and confess his name with our mouths. That is how we (Christians) shall be saved. The fact that we are saved from sin does NOT mean that we are automatically saved from wrath!
We have work to do!
Jesus said if we do not deny ourselves, take up our crosses, and follow him, we are NOT WORTHY of him! How many in the churches today believe that? Some days I feel like I could count them on one hand...

  • Amen brother! I agree 100 percent with everything you've said here. Praise God for revealing His truth to those who genuinely seek Him.

    God bless,

    Dannii.

  • @AusDisciple

    Amen!

Thank you sister for your encouraging words. It helps so much to know there is another true disciple out there...

  • Thanks for this teaching....I always wondered what those verses really meant...now it is very clear, and not only that, but does this mean that ALL true believers are called out to preach the gospel? Does this mean in our daily lives or should I be out on the street preaching? Seriously...

You have judged rightly. All disciples are witnesses of Jesus Christ, and are called to testify. Not all are evangelists (Eph. 4:11)...but we all have the charge to teach the gospel of Christ to those that God puts in our path daily.

With the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

If ye confess me before men, I will confess you before my Father in heaven....

  • Matthew 13

47 - Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:

48 - Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.

49 - So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,

    Praise God!

If only I had someone to explain this to me 16 years ago...but God showed me eventually. I am so rejoicing for you, brother Stephen...

And I pray God you will teach these things to others also as a faithful servant of Christ (2 Tim. 2:2).

  • Amen... So Romans 10:9-14 is speaking of a "continual or daily" confession and believing... Not some one time closet prayer of forgiveness???

    Amen...

You took some time to get to the nuts and bolts of the message but, I received...

    Brother Stephen
