I did an experiment for my sociology class to determine the effects of sleep deprivation on society. This is the video diary I kept for the 50 hours I stayed awake.

  • did everyone in your class have to do it? like whta was the assignment?

  • @mr76dukestah The assignment was to research an issue that affects society, I just chose to do sleep deprivation because I wanted to do an experiment. I think most people did things that could be researched through surveys and interviews. It was pretty open as long as you could prove that your issue affects society in some way.

  • search "who can stay awake the longest" on youtube. its these 2 guys who compete in different competitions. it's really funny!

  • @jackchrisevans ahah, it's Kenny vs. Spenny, they're awesome

  • @TrialSounds i kinda played xbox alot then at about 45 hours into it (it was about 5am) i must have blacked out because all i can remember is waking up with my laptop infront of me at about 7am...im gunna try it again but instead getting 7 hours of sleep before the test im gunna try get 12 hours of sleep. i may also try walking round to stay awake and drink something with alot of taurine (monster)

  • @Musicalfridge That sounds good, but I'd try to stay away from any energy drinks (even if it has taurine) because they all make you crash. Even if you drank them every time you feel tired, eventually you'd just pass out. Otherwise, sounds like a good plan.

  • Are you fucking kidding me? You call that sleep deprivation? Try staying up over 74. I did.

  • I went without sleep for 50 hours once. I was awake a full day before flying from Melbourne to Sydney to L.A. to New York and I didn't get a wink of sleep on any of the flights. At about the 35 hour mark I just went into autopilot mode. It felt like I was watching myself in third person and I was just overcome with exhaustion.

  • @Musicalfridge Being quiet is the hardest part, I guess. My parents knew I was doing it, and I sleep in the basement, so that was a problem for me. I played guitar, video games, I tried to read as much as possible. Movies and TV only work for a little while because when you're sitting dormant your body will automatically want to sleep. If you can go for walks, that might work. I also went onto Omegle chat (not video) and talked to strangers for the fun of it. Hope that helps, tell me how it goes
