UPDATE: Gov Schwarzenegger ignored the wishes of California voters and signed AB22 anyway. The CA political scene is in dire straits. Work to defeat him next election; put in a REAL conservative. ///////////// MY PRE-WRITTEN EMAIL/FAX FOLLOWS. IT WILL HAVE MORE POWER IF YOU MODIFY IT OR WRITE YOUR OWN. WHATEVER YOU DO THOUGH, DO WRITE! ///
Governor Schwarzenegger: ///

I highly encourage you to VETO Assembly Bill 962 (and SB585) which are on your desk. AB962 is onerous gun control legislation that further harasses gun owners in California. Outlawing mail order ammunition purchasing, requiring in- person sales by state-trained employees, and keeping detailed personal information (to include thumb printing!) on the buyers will do nothing to increase public safety in California. Instead it creates another layer of bureaucracy that abrogates citizen privacy in the name of gun owner harassment. It is also an infringement of Second Amendment rights that could be subject to expensive but ultimately effective legal challenge.

Over twenty years ago, Congress abolished similar requirements because ammunition sales records were found to be useless for solving crimes. Moreover it will have many unintended consequences such as increased difficulty in acquiring ammunition for law enforcement offices and providing a possible database that criminals could use to steal firearms from the residences of their owners.

Also please VETO SB585, another unneeded piece of legislation which further restricts California law-abiding gun owners. The promoters and vendors at CA gunshows already comply with mind-boggling and complex CA regulatory requirements. SB585 attempts to waylay some more on these good citizens. SB585 lays a foundation of outlawing all gun shows on publicly-owned property within the state and I also adamantly oppose this legislation. It is a harassment bill. ///

Your vetoing of these two bills will help restore some confidence of California gun owners (and freedom lovers worldwide) in your administration. Likewise, your support of these measures will encourage thousands to contribute and work towards your political defeat just like those suffered by the Democrats in 1994. I and thousands like me watch with great interest your actions. Please do the right thing and VETO. ///

Sincerely
//////////////////////////// Please contact Governor Schwarzenegger TODAY and respectfully urge him to veto AB962 and SB585. The Governor can be reached by phone at 916-445-2841 or via fax at 916-558-3160. To email Governor Schwarzenegger, please visit http://gov.ca.gov/interact

  • @theTicklemehellmo I feel your pain bro. I'm 18 and lived in CA my whole life. Just started college last fall. I'm transferring out to Univ. of Wyoming my junior year.

  • @theTicklemehellmo Haha your gonna have so much fun here :)

  • @bmx65 Thanks, I'll probably move to Arizona or Colorado after College. Until then, I can't wait to get my hands on a Ruger Mini-14 :)

  • @theTicklemehellmo You seem to be pretty mature for a 13 year old. Move out of that awful state when you are old enough :)

  • Nutnfancy, why do you follow the terms everyone uses. Using the word socialism is to broad a term. I could say your a socialist because you have youtube friends. Be more specific and dont use the terms all brain washed people use. For example the germans at the time were brainwashed by hitler. Also the "gun show loop hole" dont use it. As i know you are a law abiding person. You know we need a way to keep guns out of criminals hands. So we need some law and order in that area.

  • I'm 13, and living in CA just sucks, to have your rights taken away just because something looks aesthetically "frightening"

For example, shotguns with cylindrical actions are banned. Why? It doesn't effect how the gun itself works. You can kill someone with a pump shotgun as easily as a Striker. So why ban one specific type? Same thing with Bayonets. It shoots bullets for god's sake. Same thing with pistol grips on rifles. Grenade launcher sights. You name it, it's banned.
