RAW FOOTAGE -- taken by myself, a member of the University of Saskatchewan Space Design Team (USST) during the 2nd day of the Japanese Space Elevator Technical Engineering Competition (JSETEC) 2010. The team rebounded the next day by rebuilding the climber overnight and by being the only team to climb the 300 m rope successfully 3 times (all in one climb window). Visit my channel for more video of the USST from JSETEC 2010 or visit www.usst.usask.ca for more information about the team. Copyright USST 2010, all rights reserved.
At this competition they had the rope attached to two large helium filled balloons. The NASA competitions used cranes for the first few years and then a helicopter in 2009.
