Preview for the final episode of JETSTREAM:

Nine months of intensive training. 175 hours of ground school. Fifty missions in the F-18 Hornet. All leading up to this moment, when the students cast off the name "rookie" and officially earn the right to call themselves fighter pilots.

But students have flunked out of training even this late in the game, and it's a bad idea to get cocky. For their final missions, the students must master mid-air refuelling and drop their first bombs. And then they have one very special final mission...

JETSTREAM originally aired on Discovery Channel Canada in 2008.

  • I have a question, are Dave and Shamus Lieutenant Colonels? At the end of Bombs away the narrator emphasized Shamus' long-awaited promotion. Now, since everyone else, including the dropouts, are captains I'm going to assume that yes they are Lt Cols.

  • Shamus and Dave both held the rank of Lieutenant (Lt) throughout the series. After taping on Jetstream wrapped, Shamus was made a Captain. Lieutenant Colonel (LCol) is a much more senior rank.

  • okaaaiiiden, you may think so, but appearance isn't the most important thing on the world. In my opinion Shamus looks ordinary but try to achieve what shamus did, he is now a fighter pilot, you, me and the rest is just an anonymous bunch of people due to the curtain of the internet, so safe your "leet jobs" listing.

  • In may of 2007, I chatted with a CF-18 pilot at an airshow at St-Hubert airport.

When I saw the series, I recognized him :

    it was Yannick Jobin.

Had I known his class would be on that series, I'd taken a good photo of him, not only his plane.

December 24th of that year, he was assigned to "escort" Santa when he flew over Canada to begin his route.

  • Yes,

    In order, it's :

    - Lieutenant

    - Captain

    - Major

    - Lt Colonel

    - Colonel

    - General (1 - 5 star)

  • I agree it was so awesome!

  • This was an awesome show! Last episode was definlatley the best one. If I was a bit younger, I be at the air force recruiting office right now.

  • That clears things up. I appreciate your prompt reply, you guys should update your website soon though! I hope you guys continue this series, or at least make some sort of special each year updating the career trajectories of these rookies.
